Bollywood actors Irrfan Khan and Kangana Ranaut are one of the finest performers in the film industry at present. Seeing the two in a film will be quite entertaining.
However, Ketan Mehta is soon to direct a film based on the life and times of renowned ghazal and thumri singer Begum Akhtar. The biopic will feature Kangana and Irrfan, according to IANS.
Shri Anup Jalota Productions and Ae Mohabbat Productions announced the film, which will star the "Jazbaa" actor in the lead role. Speculations are rife that the female lead's role will go to Kangana, but no confirmation has been made as yet.
Apart from the impressive cast, the biopic will also have Oscar winner AR Rahman's music.
"We are trying to get Kangana Ranaut to play one of the stages of Begum Akhatar in the film," Anup Jalota told IANS.
"We have grown up listening to and idolising Begum Akhtar. I have been wanting to initiate such project and a tie up with Ae Mohabbat Productions and associating with Rita Ganguly who knew her personally, is a real blessing," he added.
The biopic is set to release next year, according to Rita Ganguly -- who used to be a student of Begum Akhtar.
"It is not really a biopic but a feature film. The screenplay is ready and it will have full formula of a superhit film. We are planning to release it next year as its a period film and lot goes behind making such projects," Ganguly told IANS.
Meanwhile, Irrfan and Kangana are busy with their other projects. After "Piku" and "Talvar", Irrfan is set to capture hearts again with his performance in his upcoming film "Jazbaa" opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He is playing the character of a cop in Sajay Gupta's film, which is releasing on 9 October.
On the other hand, Kangana is currently working in Vishal Bharadwaj's film "Rangoon", which also features Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.
