Team Rajkot acquired Ravindra Jadeja in the Indian Premier League (IPL) player draft for the next two seasons of the cash-rich tournament. For the first time, Jadeja will be playing for his home side and he is happy to be a part of the new franchise.
But, Jadeja said that it will be challenging to bowl at MS Dhoni as the latter is arguably one of the greatest finishers of the international game. Jadeja and Dhoni have played in tandem for Chennai Super Kings (CSK),for a number of IPL seasons and they yielded a lot of fruit. Now for the next two seasons of the IPL, Jadeja will be pitted against his former skipper Dhoni.
"It's a big challenge to bowl against Dhoni, particularly in shorter version of the game, as Dhoni has proved himself as a best finisher of the game, but I will do my level best to perform well," Jadeja told reporters on Thursday.
Jadeja scripted a dream comeback into the Indian Test team against South Africa. His heroics with the ball and the willow were commendable. He has been in the form of his life in the domestic season as well. Recently, he slammed a century for his Saurashtra in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is also one of the probable contenders of making it to the ODI and T20 squad of Team India, which will fly to Australia for a couple of limited over series.
His performances in the current season have made him such a valuable spinning all-rounder. And thus, the Team Rajkot officials did not think twice before picking him from the pool of 50 players in the IPL player draft.
"It's a different kind of feeling which cannot be expressed while playing for home team and I hope that I would be doing well in the IPL," Jadeja said.
"I have been selected in the Rajkot team as a good player and there is a chance for me to go further if I could play good cricket in coming IPL season."
