Eoin Morgan has played for three IPL teams – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad – so far. Morgan made his IPL debut in 2010 for RCB, and has since played against some of the big names in world cricket.
Morgan believes his IPL experience has helped improve his game, and he considers himself lucky to have played with Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis. The Englishman has also been a regular feature for England in coloured clothing, representing The Three Lions in 160 ODIs and 62 T20s.
"The IPL has helped my game in a huge way. The first 2-3 years I came to the IPL, I saw my game improve immensely. Rubbing shoulders with the best players in the field, you gain huge amount of confidence training alongside them, playing with them and seeking advice from them," Cricbuzz quoted Morgan as saying.
"I was lucky to play with the likes of Jacques Kallis, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and had the opportunity of watching them closely as they went about their business. As a youngster making his way into international cricket, it was a quite a big thing for me."
Morgan is one of those breed of cricketers, who loves playing cheeky shots behind the wicket, and that too with great effect. Morgan is known for his unorthodox shots, and it is such shots, which makes life difficult for the bowlers when he is in full flow.
Asked about how easy these strokes come to him, Morgan said: "To be honest, I haven't been practicing those shots. I have been keeping an open mind and looking to play as naturally as I can in this tournament," Morgan said.
Morgan's present team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, needs him to be consistent in 2016. The 29-year-old player is one of their specialist T20 cricketers, and the left-hander has been decent, scoring 22 n.o, 51 and 11 runs this campaign so far.
SRH, who lie in the second-last position in the standings, face Gujarat Lions in Rajkot on Thursday.
