He is enjoying a rich vein of form and now Jos Buttler believes that the friendships formed with the Indian players over the course of the Indian Premier League will not be a factor and will be 'forgotten' during the upcoming Test series.
"There are a few guys I have played with," said Buttler.
"Naturally you have friendships with them but on the field they seem to be forgotten and everyone is competitive. There are familiar faces, guys you know a bit more about than just the cricket. That is one of the great things about world cricket now. You get these opportunities to play around the world and meet these great people. There is a lot more familiarity between the sides than there ever has been before," he further added.
Indian captain Virat Kohli had earlier spoken about the improved relations with the English players because of the time spent with each other during the IPL. While Kohli captained Moeen and Woakes at the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Buttler along with Ben Stokes played under Ajinkya Rahane for the Rajasthan Royals.
'Guys want to win on the field'
However, Buttler believes that there will be moments in the Test series when all the camaraderie will vanish as the series is going to be intensely competitive.
"What you have to remember is people can get on well but the reason guys have got to international sport is they want to win and are competitive so it will be no different on the field. Off it may be a little bit," he said.
Speaking about his irresistible form, Buttler said that the best thing he learned from the IPL is to watch and learn from the best players and try to figure out what stands out and how they practice and what makes them consistent across all the three formats.
"I feel like I have learned a hell of lot from watching guys train and go about their practice, ways they react to certain pressure moments in a game as well," he further added.
The stumper who will pass on the gloves to Jonny Bairstow for the Test matches also quipped that he is open to moving up the order as he now wants to score the Test hundred and is chuffed to play against India against whom he made his Test debut back in 2014.
