Manoj Tiwary has taken to Twitter and expressed his disappointment over his snub in the 2019 IPL auction on Tuesday, December 18. The 33-year-old said that he does not know why he has been constantly overlooked despite being a consistent run-scorer.
Tiwary is a household name in the Indian cricketing circuit and according to common perception, he is the unluckiest player of this generation. Tiwary has been playing domestic cricket for Bengal since 2004 and has scored over 13,000 runs at a batting average of over 50 in First-Class cricket.
The Bengal captain recently scored a double century for his state side in the Ranji Trophy against Madhya Pradesh and followed it up with a half-century against Kerala. But the right-hander did not find any takers in the IPL auction which has caused him to express his disappointment, while also referencing an incident from 2012.
Wondering wat went wrong on my part after getting Man of a match award wen I scored a hundred 4 my country and got dropped for the next 14 games on a trot ?? Looking at d awards which I received during 2017 IPL season, wondering wat went wrong ??? pic.twitter.com/GNInUe0K3l

Tiwary was talking about the century he scored against West Indies (now Windies) in 2012 in which he bagged the man of the match award. Subsequently, he was not picked during the Commonwealth Bank series in Australia. This was the time former captain MS Dhoni was rotating Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Gautam Gambhir to fit Rohit Sharma into the team.
In the 2017 season of the IPL, Tiwary represented Rising Pune Supergiant and was one of the key players in the franchise's journey to the final where they narrowly lost to Mumbai Indians. In 15 matches that season, he had scored 324 runs at an average of 32.40 with a strike rate of 137.28. Tiwary also won the "Stylish Player of the Day" award four times.
But his 2018 season was disappointing as the right-hander managed to score only 47 runs in his limited opportunities. Tiwary, though, came into the news for his side-arm bowling action in a match against SunRisers Hyderabad.
