The Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to lock up that place in the IPL 2017 playoffs by beating the Gujarat Lions in Kanpur on Saturday.
With four teams still in contention for the three remaining spots, SRH can take one of those places out of the equation by picking up a W at the Green Park Stadium.
Having watched the Kings XI Punjab keep the race for the playoffs alive going into the final weekend of the IPL 2017 league phase, the pressure is now on the Sunrisers Hyderabad to respond with a win.
"We've come here to win the game and the mindset is to win the game and not focus on things that are not in control," SRH head coach Tom Moody said. "Other results are not in our control but what is in our control is to play our best cricket here."
Moody feels the extreme heat could play a factor, especially with this being a day game.
"It will be challenging for both the teams," Moody added. "We have prepared accordingly and we won't have long nets sessions. It is necessary to have the right amount of hydration so that we don't face any issues during the game."
SRH will be kicking themselves to not have already sealed a place in the top four, with David Warner's side losing their way a little in the last few matches. Two losses in a row, one of which should have been won comfortably, put them in the must-win zone, and while they responded well in the last game by beating the Mumbai Indians, they need to show up once more in this match against GL.
"At the end of the day, it is a very tough tournament with very good players," Moody said. "It is very rare that you see a side dominate from start to finish.
"Yes, we dropped a few games but when it gets to the end of the tournament, you need to be playing your best cricket and we feel confident after a resounding win over Mumbai Indians in the last game."
The Gujarat Lions have nothing to play for in what could be their final IPL game. Considering the BCCI are set to bring back CSK and the Rajasthan Royals next season and are keen on keeping this tournament an eight-team one, this could very well be GL's last match as an IPL franchise.
That could be enough motivation to pick up a win on Saturday.
