Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) appointed a new captain in the form of David Miller just ahead of the start of IPL 2016. But now it seems, the management might be having second thoughts following the dismal start to their campaign.
KXIP have made an awful start to IPL 2016. The Miller-led side have lost five out of their six matches.
If one takes a look at the statistics carefully, most of the captains have led from the front in this year's IPL - be it Virat Kohli of RCB, Gautam Gambhir of KKR, Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians or David Warner of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Most of them are on the top run-getter's list.
But, Miller has failed to make any sort of impact in IPL 2016. The South African left-hander has managed to score just 76 runs in six matches, at a poor average of 15.20.
According to a report in TOI, Murali Vijay is being considered for the role of the captain. An official announcement is yet to be made by the team management, but it is something they are considering.
Vijay may lead the KXIP side for the first time against the Gujarat Lions, which is going to be an away match.
Looking at Miller's form, he could even be dropped and Farhaan Behardien, who awaits an IPL debut for KXIP, could come in.
Glenn Maxwell was also struggling for form, but in the last match he showed what he is capable of. Maxwell's form will give KXIP a major boost for the remainder of the IPL 2016 campaign.
