Kings XI Punjab have confirmed that three of their IPL 2016 home matches will be hosted at the Dharamsala Cricket Stadium next month. The announcement comes weeks after the Bombay High Court announced its verdict to shift this season's Indian Premier League matches out of Maharashtra after April 30.
KXIP were originally scheduled to see three of their matches get hosted in Nagpur.
"We are happy to announce that Kings XI Punjab will be playing our three home games in Dharamsala. We are grateful and thankful to the HPCA [Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association] for their support in helping us make this transition seamless at such short notice," the franchise said in a statement, the Indian Express reported.
Kings XI, currently rock-bottom in IPL 2016, will play Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dharamsala between May 7 and 15.
The BCCI had been asked to find alternate venues for the 13 IPL games that needed to be shifted from Maharashtra after April 30. It has also been announced that the IPL 2016 final will be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in place of the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
The two Maharashtra-based sides -- Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants -- were also given options by the Indian cricket board to select the base of their home matches come May. While the Pune franchisee have opted for Visakhapatnam, defending champions Mumbai Indians have opted for Jaipur.
