Delhi Daredevils will host the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday. Both sides can be referred to as underachievers as they have failed to hit the expected heights over the years.
Both the Daredevils and KXIP are coming into this fixture on the back of defeats and as a result they will want to find a win.
The Daredevils were thrashed by two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first game of IPL 2016. Their batting lineup crumbled like a house of cards. The batsmen will look to rectify those mistakes when they take the field against KXIP on Friday.
Here is a look at some of the players who could make an impact on the game tonight:
Delhi Daredevils:
Quinton de Kock: This young South African wicketkeeper has been in great touch with the bat. He can get his team off to brilliant starts. De Kock is extremely efficient right at the top of the batting order and has that knack of playing long innings. KXIP bowlers are likely to have a tough time containing him at the Kotla.
Imran Tahir: Currently, he is South Africa's best spinning option and he adds a lot of experience to this Dardevils side. But, unfortunately, Zaheer Khan decided to not pick the legspinner and play an extra seamer against KKR, a decision which that backfired badly. Tahir's ability of picking up wickets in the shortest format of the game makes him special. If he is included in the playing XI, he will surely trouble a number KXIP batsmen.
Kings XI Punjab:
David Miller: The captain has to lead from the front. He started off well against the Gujarat Lions, but was then foxed by Dwayne Bravo. That cannot happen, as Miller's wicket is priceless. As a captain, Miller needs to take more responsibility and play the long innings.
Glenn Maxwell: The Australian all-rounder has not been at his best. He had a poor IPL 2015 with the bat and he did not start off with runs in IPL 2016. Maxwell can be destructive, and it is just a matter of one knock for him to find form. That may just come against the Daredevils.
