Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) youngster Sarfaraz Khan will get his first opportunity to showcase his talent in front of his home crowd at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but not for the home team. He will sport the RCB jersey and would want to bring a smile in all those faces he once played with at Azad Maidan.
Chris Gayle and David Wiese heaped praises on Sarfaraz when asked about the youngster. Everybody will remember his cameo of 17 ball 45 runs against the Rajasthan Royals earlier during this IPL. He propelled his side to post a massive target of 200 runs on the board, but unfortunately the match was washed out due to rain in Bengaluru. During and after that match, he took the social media websites by storm and gained immense popularity.
"Sarfaraz is a bright future for Indian cricket. He's learning so much from the experienced guys in the side. He's grabbed his opportunity with both hands. He set the stage on fire against Rajasthan Royals by scoring 45 off 17 balls. He's batted well and he's showing some consistency too. A 17-year-old can only get better from here. IPL has done wonders for another cricketer," Gayle told The Times of India.
Sarfaraz's father Naushad Khan, has built a little 'cheering squad' for his army ahead of MI's clash against RCB at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. He can only get them to the field depending on the availability of tickets.
"He is an unbelievable talent. For a 17-year-old kid to play like that at this level is unbelievable. I think for him, the main key is to not keep to much expectation on himself, just to go out and do what he has been doing. He has been phenomenal for us. I am pretty sure he has a bright future ahead of him," said David Wiese in an interview ahead of their match against MI.
