Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to take on Delhi Daredevils (DD) in match no. 39 of the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Tuesday.
Mumbai seems to have resurrected their start to the tournament by winning four out of their last five games. They would think they still have a chance to make it to the Playoff stages of the IPL 2015. If they manage to win this game against the Daredevils, they would jump up to the 4th spot from the seventh.
Meanwhile, Delhi have had a scratchy tournament as they have been on- and off-form. JP Duminy will have to ask his boys to play as a cohesive unit in order to beat the in-form MI.
Here are some of the key clashes from this all-important match:
Shreyas Iyer Vs Mitchell McClenaghan: Iyer has been the best find for Delhi this season. He has batted extremely well at the top of the order alongside Mayank Agarwal. He does not hold himself back from playing his shots and is a naturally attacking batsman. He would surely attack the Mumbai bowlers right from the word go but it will not be easy against Mitchell McClenaghan. He has bowled well ever since he has joined the Mumbai squad and has picked up crucial wickets.
JP Duminy Vs Lasith Malinga: Duminy has tried to lead his side from the front and has scored a lot of runs with the bat so far in this edition of the IPL. He lacks the support from the middle order for which Delhi have suffered. Malinga on the other hand seems to back on track bowling his deadly yorkersin the death overs and curbing the run rate in the middle overs. He is one of the key to Mumbai's success.
Lendl Simmons Vs Zaheer Khan: Simmons has given MI the right start that they were looking for at the start of the tournament. They have tried a number of combinations at the top of the order but the current combination of Simmons and Parthiv Patel seem to have clicked for them. Zaheer on the other hand, has had an impressive return to this format of the game. He has bowled really well in the last two matches that he played for the Daredevils. He will be a difficult customer to score runs off.
Rohit Sharma Vs Imran Tahir: Rohit Sharma has chipped in with the 20's and the 30's and they have served them well. He is undoubtedly the best batsman in the MI squad and he can be extremely dangerous if he gets going. Meanwhile, Tahir will try and cut down the run flow during the middle overs along with Amit Mishra. He bowls quicker through the air and his wrong ones are difficult to decipher. As Rohit is one of the better players of spin bowling, it will be an interesting contest.
