Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir praised his bowlers for their performance against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the match no 17 of the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015, at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Monday.
KKR cruised to a comfortable victory by six wickets against DD, thanks to the fantastic bowling upfront by Umesh Yadav and Morne Morkel. These two speedsters have been providing their side the all-important breakthrough during the powerplay overs. Yadav picked up two for 18 and Morkel picked two for 30 in their allotted overs.
"A lot of credit needs to go to the bowlers, especially Umesh, he's been unbelievable, especially that last over he bowled," Gambhir told PTI.
"It's a luxury to have Morne, Umesh and Sunil in the same team. All that matters for KKR is how many points we have. It doesn't matter how many runs I get," he added.
Later, Yadav was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance. "I'm just focussing on my line and length, that's it. I had a lot of confidence from the World Cup. I just wanted to use the pace and skiddy bounce on this wicket," said Yadav.
DD set a target of 147 and KKR chased that down comfortably with 11 balls to spare and with six wickets in hand. The Delhi batsmen put up a dismal show with the bat. Manoj Tiwary top-scored with 32 runs, followed by Shreyas Iyer and Angelo Mathews.
