Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) co-owner Preity Zinta has been an ardent cricket fan and she has supported her side ever since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) back in 2008.
Preity is hopeful that this year, her team will go all the way and bring home the cup that they could never get their hands on to. She is also confident about the players including the foreign recruits like George Bailey, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh.
"I hope that we can go all the way. We have a wonderful bunch of cricketers in our line-up. This year we have the likes of George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Marsh in our team and they are big assets," Preity told The Times of India.
She heaped praise on the Indian players as well. Murali Vijay is the latest addition to their team that already has some powerful players like Virender Sehwag, Manan Vohra, Wriddhiman Saha, Axar Patel, Anureet Singh and Sandeep Sharma.
"But the strength of the Indian players is also good. We have a champion cricketer in Virender Sehwag, whose presence is a huge boost.
"Do you remember the knock he played against the Chennai Super Kings in the knockout stages last year? It was one of the best IPL knocks I have seen in recent years," said an excited Preity.
KXIP had qualified for the semi-finals in the inaugural year where they bowed down to the mighty Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and suffered a heavy defeat. Ever since then, till 2013 they were not fairing well in this T20 extravaganza.
In 2014, they revamped their squad and played like champions and qualified for the finals. They looked formidable and kept on producing all-round performances until they lost the final to the Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets. This year, they have played two matches so far and won and lost one each. They will take on the Delhi Daredevils in their next match of IPL 2015 on Wednesday.
