After 56 matches, some outstanding batting, equally good bowling and ridiculous fielding, four teams are looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday, and perhaps more beyond that, while four other sides are licking their wounds, with that wistful feeling of "what might have been."
The Chennai Super Kings, as is their wont, finished top of the pile again, ensuring a couple of cracks at reaching the final. Mumbai Indians finished second in the IPL 2015 table – which means they also will have two opportunities -- with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals following suit.
Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab were the four teams to miss out on the IPL 2015 playoffs, with KKR, in particular, the surprise team side to finish outside the top four.
The fact that KKR are no longer a part of IPL 2015 means we will have a new champion – what remains to be seen is if it will be two-time champs CSK, one-time winners MI and RR or RCB for the first time in their history.
Either way, the playoffs promises four more fantastic contests.
