The ongoing eight edition of the Indian Premier League has brought us a number of magical memories with sixes flying all around the park and wickets being rattled, but one of the highlights of the competition has been the high standards of catching that have been set by fielders from all the teams.
Though there have been some dollies, which has been put down by some fielders, such drop catches have been overshadowed by some amazing fielding performances from David Warner, Dwayne Bravo, Lendl Simmons amongst others, who have made the IPL 2015 even more spectacular with their high flying catches.
IPL 2015 has witnessed a whole variety of catches from one handed high flying catches near the boundary line, in-field superman catches, to behind the wickets etc.
There are some catches, which standout amongst the number of best catches in the eight edition of IPL.
One such catch that comes to mind is the relay catch between Tim Southee and Karun Nair of Rajasthan Royals, where Southee times his jump to perfection and realises he is going over the boundary line, hence throws the ball towards an incoming fielder, Karun Nair, who has to put another one handed dive to make it look as one of the catches of the season during the time.
This fielding effort put forward by the Royals players set the tournament alight as the competition produced some magical catches on a consistent basis.
If RR's boundary line catch was amazing, what about Naman Ojha's full length dive to his right, where the ball just found enough space in his gloves webbing to make it another outstanding IPL catch.
What makes the IPL even more interesting is the way players always strive to improve on their skills, as was witnessed when the so called 'slow fielder' Imran Tahir ran across to his right and produced an amazing running dive catch in the outfield. But this stands nothing if compared to Faf du Plessis' effort in the outfield, where he dived backwards to make an impossible catch look possible.
When we talk about best catches, it sounds incomplete if it does not include a spectacular catch at backward point and Lendl Simmons showed his fielding agility plucking the ball from mid air after it was flying from Yuvraj Singh's bat. Such catches reminds us of Jhonty Rhodes, who also stood up from his chair to applaud the catcher.
This was just one of the three amazing catches by Lendl Simmons in the competition.
