The iPhone X is without a doubt, Apple's best iPhone yet, but the one thing that might be a deal breaker for some is its exorbitant price tag. At a starting price of $999 or Rs 89,000, the iPhone X is a smartphone only a handful of people might want to invest in, especially in India. The cost of buying one aside, the cost of ownership is also going to be a very expensive affair, especially if you are someone with slippery hands.
The iPhone X is not the most durable of smartphones out there, in fact, it's not even as durable as the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus, as revealed by a recent consumer survey report. But all that could change if Apple applies the construction that's completely different from the metal and glass of the iPhone X. And perhaps, the iPhone X can become more inexpensive, well at least a little bit.
Meet the iPhone Xc concept, an ingenious device built on the heels of the not-so-popular iPhone 5c, but only this time around, it's an iPhone X in a polycarbonate shell. Take a look at the pictures.
The polycarbonate body apart from making the iPhone X more durable than the premium-but-fragile glass back cover of the iPhone X (which also costs a fortune to replace), also gives the iPhone X some funky new paint jobs.
Apple could apply the polycarbonate build and still pack all of the iPhone X internals such as the A11 Bionic or the A12 for that matter. It could also retain the display, complete with that unsightly notch, if you will. About the only thing the polycarbonate iPhone Xc will not be is that it won't be as expensive as the iPhone X, and you won't have to worry about dropping your phone.
Apple could easily shave a good $200 from the iPhone X by employing the polycarbonate design, which means the iPhone Xc could be priced at $749.
Having said that, the iPhone Xc is just a concept and not an actual device in Apple's portfolio. But we would love if Apple comes up with something like this.
