Apple Inc. released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus just two months ago, but rumours about its next flagship smartphone dubbed as iPhone 7, have already turned into a topic of discussion of late. Many may think that it's too early to talk about iPhone 6's successor, but details of the purported device have hit the net and reports have it that it's release date will fall in the third quarter of 2015.
The Cupertino giant is very unlikely to reveal the release date of iPhone 7 but it may arrive in the second half of 2015 if rumours are anything to go by. Apple has the tradition of releasing its flagship devices in the third quarter of every year, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if it launches its upcoming smartphone soon.
The iPhone 7 is expected to come with many feature upgrades over its predecessor iPhone 6 that was released along with iPhone 6 Plus in September this year. According to a report by iPhone7update website, Apple's upcoming device may come with a screen bigger than iPhone 6 Plus, which has a 5.5-inch display, and protected by sapphire crystal glass that was rumoured to be seen in iPhone 6 but never really happened. Liquid metal could also be used for the chassis of the handset instead of aluminium.
The report also claimed that iPhone 7 could be powered by a quad-core A8 processor and come packed with 256GB or more internal memory, doing away the demand of gadget lovers for a microSD card slot. Face recognition method could be used to unlock the device and an in-built projector is expected. The device is also expected to have the 14MP main camera, as against an 8MP camera seen in iPhone 6, and 4MP front snapper that will give a different experience to selfie photography. It is also expected to support 4G connectivity and house a battery more powerful than the one seen in the current smartphone.
It's too early to speculate on the price of iPhone 7 with its release date about 10 months away, but given the expected feature upgrades over its predecessor, The price of iPhone 6 is expected to be higher than its siblings.
