'Intolerance' row
Aamir Khan has been in the news of late after commenting on the "rising intolerance" in India. At the eighth edition of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards ceremony, Aamir reportedly said that the current situation in India has prompted his wife Kiran Rao to consider moving out of the country. This sparked a controversy, with people protesting in front of his residence and abusing him on social media.
Without watching the actual video, people including Aamir's fellow celebs posted harsh tweets against the actor. Meanwhile, Aamir responded to the entire controversy and released a statement saying neither he nor his wife Kiran Rao has any intention of leaving India. (Read the full statement here.)
Nude "PK" Poster
Aamir Khan's nude image on the poster of his film, "PK", was also criticised by many. In the poster, the actor is seen standing naked on a railway track, with a stereo covering his front. The poster was termed by many as "vulgar". However, the success of the film shut them up.
Called his pet dog Shah Rukh
Aamir Khan found himself entwined in another controversy when he said his dog's name was 'Shah Rukh'. In his blog, he wrote, "Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for? Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog."
Later on, Shah Rukh Khan said these comments do not bother him. After this, it was learnt that the two Khans were not in good terms.
Called Amitabh Bachchan's acting in "Black" 'over the top'
Aamir Khan had a war of words with Amitabh Bachchan. Khan stated Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Black" was 'insensitive and manipulative' in an interview. He also said that Bachchan's perfomance was 'over the top'. The criticism was not accepted by Big B and he replied to this in an interview that may be the performance did go 'over the top' of his head.
The fight didn't end there; the "Ghajini" actor commented that there was no sympathy shown for the handicapped person, and rather she was ill treated. Bachchan also back-answered by saying that "Lagaan" also had a handicapped character playing the match.
Love affair with a British journalist
Aamir Khan's life's biggest scandal was when a magazine revealed the actor's alleged relationship with a British journalist, Jessica Hines. It became uglier when it was found that they had a child named Jaan. It is said the duo met each other on the sets of "Ghulam" and was in a live-in relationship. Hines got pregnant, but Khan refused to accept the baby and ended the relationship.
Accused by his younger brother
Faisal Khan, Aamir's brother, accused his sibling of keeping him captivated in his house. Aamirallegedly forcibly gave him medicines to him. The matter got worse when the whole matter went public and was dragged to the courts. The court declared the custody of Faisal to their father and after that, the case fell silent.
