Intex has silently launched a new entry-level smartphone, Aqua Joy, in India shortly after it unveiled the Aqua Lions 3G earlier this week. The latest budget smartphone is listed on the company's official website for Rs. 2,799 along with all the specifications, but there is no option to buy the device just yet.
Intex Aqua Joy is a low-spec smartphone that matches the ultra-affordable price tag. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and has dual SIM slots with 3G support on one of them. The handset comes with preloaded apps such as Matrabhasha, 360 Security, Hike, Newshunt and Opera Mini.
Intex Aqua Joy features a 4-inch WVGA display with 480x800 pixels and 233ppi. The handset is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor, which is paired with 512MB RAM and has 4GB inbuilt storage. There is a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB additional storage.
In terms of camera, there is a VGA camera (0.3MP) on both sides with a dual-tone LED flash on the rear. The Aqua Joy packs a 1,450mAh battery, which, according to the company, can offer up to 5 hours of talk time. These specs are quite basic considering the rapid growth of smartphone market in India, but the company is offering a chance for feature phone users to experience smartphones at a low cost.
Additional information about the handset includes a G-sensor for location tracking, GPS and supports single finger touch. The handset measures 10.1mm thick and weighs 110 grams, which is quite light and compact.
Intex has been quite busy with new product launches of late. Besides launching Aqua Lions 3G smartphone, the company also released an affordable 15-inch LED monitor at Rs. 4,800. The monitor comes with built-in stereo speakers and integrated with low power consumption technology.
There is no information on when Intex Aqua Joy would be available for purchase, but Gadgets360 noted that the handset should be available soon.
