Varun Sood, who rose to popularity after participating in MTV Roadies X2, is currently hosting Campus Diaries on the same channel. In a very short period of time, the hunk managed to become one of the most sought after television personalities and his stint on Splitsvilla 9 too garnered him a lot of fame.
In an exclusive interview with International Business Times India, Varun, who hails from Delhi, opened up about his experience participating in the shows, his Bollywood dreams and more.
International Business Times: Tell us about your new show MTV Campus Diaries.
Varun: MTV campus diaries is all about the life of a student in a college. We cover a lot of colleges asking people about their life in college, their favourite hangout spot, best part about college, fests, food, faculty..everything. It's an amazing way to stay connected to the youth and to get so much information and experience so much about different colleges.
IBT: Which is easier -- hosting or a being a reality show contestant?
Varun: To be very honest, both are challenging in their own way. Hosting MTV campus diaries and NBA slam wasn't easy. You have to keep in mind the technicalities and have fun and I'll get used to it soon. Being a reality show contestant; sometimes the situations are so difficult you don't know how to react or how to overcome it.
IBT: Share with us your experience on participating in MTV Roadies X2, Splitsvilla 9 and Squadrann.
Varun: Roadies X2 was like a dream. The best journey of my life. Every single day I woke up and said man am I really experiencing this?
Splitsvilla was challenging but I was a lot more prepared than Roadies. Mentally and physically. There were a few people who fought on petty things and I had to compete with those people! Haha!
Squadrann is a life I want! Sports, travel, adventure, it is a lot of fun. A bunch of boys who love sports travelling making a few trick shots, getting people active! Living the life!
IBT: Since you have been part of several reality shows, do you intend to participate in Bigg Boss as well?
Varun: I wouldn't mind being a part of it. But let's see what destiny has in store for me.
IBT: Tell us about your Bollywood dreams. Do you aspire to take up only lead roles?
Varun: I would love to do movies that inspire people! Like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rock On, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Wake Up Sid, Tamasha. I want to do good work and inspire people, bring about a change in the society and the thinking in my own way.
IBT: What is your next project?
Varun: A few things lined up with MTV, Squadrann continues, and of course hosting Campus Diaries. And let's see what the future holds for me, fingers crossed!
