Humans have been trying to get high since the beginning of time, and as soon as they learned to farm, beer was invented. In the hundreds of thousands of years that beer has been around, it has given many generations the time of their lives. It is in celebration of this universally loved beverage that the International Beer Day is celebrated on the first Friday of August.
In 2015, the International Beer Day falls on Friday, 7 August, and in honour of the "laughing water" we have compiled the best beer quotes by beer-loving celebrities:
Jack Nicholson: "Beer, it's the best damn drink in the world."
Frank Zappa: "You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer."
Dave Barry: "Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza."
Abraham Lincoln: "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer."
