InFocus is aiming at attract the young selfie aficionados with its all-new Bingo 50 that offers matching camera sensors on both sides of the smartphone. Announcing the launch of the new selfie-focused budget smartphone Tuesday, the U.S.-based tech company said the affordable smartphone would go on sale on March 21 exclusively on Snapdeal.
InFocus Bingo 50 is the third smartphone in the company's Bingo series, which includes Bingo 21 and Bingo 20. The Bingo 50 is priced at Rs 7,499 and requires interested buyers to register for the first sale starting Tuesday.
"Most of the smartphones in the market focus on the rear camera and ignore the selfie camera experience; whereas, for the young smartphone user, 8 out of 10 photos in their phone gallery are clicked from the front camera," Sachin Thapar, InFocus India head, said in a statement. "Taking cue from this trend, Bingo 50 comes with 8 MP front as well as rear camera with Auto Focus, for a selfie experience that no other smartphone can offer at this price point."
InFocus Bingo 50 has some interesting features besides its camera. The handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with its own InLife UI 2.0 skin on top, which makes the Bingo 50 one of the few budget smartphones to run Google's latest software.
The overall spec-sheet is comparable to most budget phones in the market. The Bingo 50 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 3GB RAM and has 16GB expandable storage. It features a 5-inch HD on-cell display and 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture on both sides, but misses the LED flash on the front unlike Bingo 21.
InFocus also uses Sandstone material for the rear side, which has rounded design for a comfortable grip. The handset is 3.5mm thin on its edges, which are curved with metallic casing on the sides. The 4G-enabled Bingo 50 packs a 2,500mAh battery and comes in Sandstone Gray and Leather Black colours.
