Manik Paul from Arunachal Pradesh has become the winner of "India's Got Talent 6" (IGT 6). The talented dancer he walked away with ₹50 lakh cash prize and a Maruti Suzuki Celerio car along with the trophy.
The grand finale of "India's Got Talent 6" was held on Saturday night. Along with Manik, Bengaluru-based hand shadow artiste Prahlad Acharya, XIX Dance Group of children from Thane, another dance group Beat Breakers, gymnast Yogeshwari Mistry, singer from Punjab Harmanpreet Kaur and Parry G from Jammu and Kashmir were also in the race for title.
In his final act, Manik, who is known for his stunning aerial acts, gave an emotional performance on the song "Nahin saamne ye alag baat hai" from the 1999 Bollywood hit "Taal". His performance received a standing ovation from the judges. He was announced the winner based on audience votes, which were opened for 20 minutes at 9pm on Saturday.
Manik did not have a trainer or teacher and his main intention to appear on "India's Got Talent 6" was to fulfil the desire of his mother, who had dreamt of owning a house. Tears rolled down his face the moment Manik was announced the winner of the sixth edition of Colors' superhit reality TV show. His mother also got emotional to see her son win the national reality TV contest.
An elated Manik said the victory has boosted his confidence. "On India's Got Talent, I got the chance to learn so many new things. I feel like I can learn anything after my experience on India's Got Talent. My thinking has truly been broadened, I now have bigger dreams and like Varun Dhawan said on the show, I believe I can represent India on a national level or higher," Bollywood Life quoted him as saying.
"India's Got Talent 6", which went on air on Colors on April 18, was judged by Karan Johar, Malaika Arora Khan and Kirron Kher and hosted by comedienne Bharti Singh and actor Sidharth Shukla. The final episode was grander affair with TV stars joining the finalist for a performance. Anupam Kher's dance performance with his wife Kirron was one of the highlights of the concluding episode.
