Indians who have a valid visa of the United States or a Green Card will now be eligible to get a UAE visa on arrival at all ports, beginning from May 1, 2017, officials on Tuesday (April 27) said.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) circulated a letter to authorities this week, to grant UAE visa on arrival to Indians with a valid American visa or a Green Card. The move was made after a Cabinet decision in March.

Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, Shaikh Khaled Bin Essam Al Qassimi told Gulf News that the circular followed the ministry's instructions. It was give to all the UAE border points, including the airports and ports in the region.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs officials in Dubai confirmed that they will start implementing the Cabinet order on May 1.

Reports state that the decision was taken to facilitate the UAE-India relations economic, politics, and trade. The officials said that the simplified visa process also contributes to achieving the UAE's vision of being the leading country in attracting tourism from across the world.

"Citizens of the Republic of India who are holders of normal passports with a six-month, or more, valid green card or visa issued by the United States of America shall be granted entry visas to the UAE from all ports for a period of 14 days, subject to a single renewal for the same period upon payment of applicable fees," an official statement said earlier on March, according to Gulf News.
