The usage of internet and the dependency on online platforms has shown tremendous rise in India with 49 per cent complaining of experiencing net withdrawal symptoms within 3 hours of going offline. Indians on an average spend 12.9 hours on browsing, 9.7 hours on socialising and 6.1 hours on e-mails, every week.
A study conducted by Norton, an internet, software and security provider, revealed increasing dependancy of Indians on internet.
The study underlined that Indian users own an average of 2.8 devices that are connected to the internet.
On asked what they would miss if internet is disconnected, 71 per cent said that they would miss work related functions if disconnected from the internet, 51 per cent felt they would miss on socialising and keeping in touch with their family and friends, while 43 per cent said their lives would turn inconvenient as they use internet for online payment.
Indians are ready to spend $1 million to safeguard their data from strangers. A good 83 per cent feel it will be tough for them to stay away from internet for more than 24 hours.
India touched the 1 million mark for internet users last year according to Google.
