Indian women's recurve team of Devi Laishram Bombayla, Deepika Kumari, and Rimil Biruly has entered the Archery World Cup final after ousting the US opponents at the semis held in Medellin, Colombia on Friday.
The archery trio will now face Chinese Olympics team of Jing Xu and Ming Cheng in the final for gold.
Although, the Indian team started poorly at the semi-final against the US team of Michelle Gilbert, Miranda Leek and Khatuna Lorig with 51-55 after the first round, the game began to reverse in the second round as India leveled the score by taking a 4 point lead.
The score of the teams stood at 162-162 after the third round, making the contest even more exciting. Both the teams started the compatition with a perfect 10 before faltering towards the end, exposing their inconsistency.
However, it was Indian team that held on to their nerves and got the better of the US team in the final round with a score of 54 as against US' 49, taking the total to 216-211 in favour of India.
The Archery World Cup Stage 3 final featuring India and China is schedule to take plazce on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that men's recurve Indian team exited in the quarters with the trio of Jayanta Talukdar, Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Das losing to Canada 220-223.
