The master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar is almost certain that his co-owned Indian Super League (ISL) franchise, Kerala Blasters is going to do well again in the second edition of the star-studded league.
Tendulkar also said that Kerala Blasters have a lot of potential and talents to make it to the big final yet again this year and win the coveted ISL trophy.
Kerala Blasters unveiled their jersey on Wednesday in the presence of the Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the officials of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, who are the principal sponsors of the ISL franchise.
"In the inaugural season last year, none of us knew when we play how it would go. As the games began and went forward, we had the full confidence that we could fill any stadium. Slowly we started to win the hearts of people because of the way we carried forward. We have a hugely talented side and I have no doubt that this season our confidence levels are high after the training and the results will show. Please continue to support and love us. We are going to give our best and this time, we are going to better our performance and we will continue to get better," the former Indian batting legend said at the jersey launch event.
The Chief Minister thanked the former India captain and said it was very generous of him to hold the Kerala Blasters in such high esteem. "We are also indebted to him as he was the goodwill ambassador for the National Games that was held here early this year and also for his role in the Kerala Blasters," Chandy said.
Kerala Blasters will begin their ISL 2015 campaign against North East United FC on October 6. All of their seven home matches will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Carlos Marchena, who is a former Spanish international, is their marquee player for this season of the ISL.
