The Indian Super League (ISL) version 2.0 will kick-start in October, but the excitement level has started soaring already. It is time for Delhi Dynamos to add on to that excitement as the franchise has signed Roberto Carlos as the marquee manager for the upcoming season of ISL this year.
There were rumours that Carlos will be signed by the Delhi franchise, but on Sunday the Dynamos ended the speculations and made it official on their official Twitter handle. Within minutes, the news went viral as football fanatics in India started retweeting the post.
Roberto Carlos also left a small video message on Twitter and on the official Facebook page of Delhi Dynamos.
Carlos says in his video message: "Namaste India, I am coming to you. Delhi Dynamos is my club now as much as yours. Looking forward to working together. Jai Hind!"
The former Brazilian left back's signing is definitely one of the biggest in the upcoming season of ISL. The 42-year-old Selecao legend has won almost all the major titles in his international career. He has won the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Copa America. His banana kick against France, which beat Fabien Barthez, will always be remembered as one of the most dangerous free kicks from which a goal was scored.
The last time he played a game was for the Russian side Anzhi. He also worked with the same side as the interim manager and later went on to manage the Turkish side Sivasspor in Super Liga. Earlier in 2015, he was appointed as the manager of another Turkish side Akhisar Belediyespor.
The ISL 2015 is scheduled to start on 3 October and one can expect it to be a cracker-jacker of a season yet again.
