Indian Super League side NorthEast United FC unveiled their jersey on Thursday at Reliance Trends in Guwahati, ahead of the second edition of the ISL.
The pristine white jersey was again retained as the home jersey of the North-East side. A host of players, including Simao Sabrosa, Nicolaz Velez, Alan Deory and Aiborlang Khongjee were present during the kit launch, along with manager César Farías and John Abraham, co-owner of the Highlanders.
Sportswear brand Performax is the official kit partner of the franchisee.
Former Portugal international Simao, who is the marquee player of the side this season, mentioned that the team are ready to make a run for the title. Their first match will be on 6 October, against the Kerala Blasters.
"The team is raring to go and win the tournament," Simao said.
The former Atletico Madrid and Benfica winger, along with Argentina forward Nicolas Velez, were key players for the side in their preseason tour of Durban, where the ISL franchise took part in three friendlies, winning two of them.
Velez, Simao and Indian midfielder Siam Hanghal were on the scoresheet as Cesar Farias' side got past Premier Soccer League (PSL) side AmaZulu FC with a 3-1 scoreline in a preseason game.
Simao continued with his good form once again in the next match, scoring a goal as the visitors thumped Ethekwini Select XI 4-0 in the final preseason game. Ghana forward Francis Dadzie also registered himself on the scoresheet, along with Velez, who netted a brace.
"We are not here for vacation, we are here to win the competition," Velez told reporters.
NorthEast United FC's only loss (3-0) came against Maritzburg United FC in their first preseason game.
