Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 is round the corner and almost all the teams have announced their squads for the forthcoming tournament. North East United FC are still in their South Africa sojourn where they have been training hard.
Former Barcelona winger Simao Sabrosa who is now the marquee signing for North East United FC for ISL 2015, got injured during one of the pre-season practice matches and was forced to leave the field. The news had left the fans worried. But John Abraham co-owned ISL franchise have announced that Simao is recovering now and he will be fit soon.
During their third match of the pres-season fixtures against Cherrians FC, Simao went to head the ball and he banged the head of his opponent's player Papin instead. As a result, he had to leave the field pretty early in the game.
Simao was under close observation since then. Later, he also discovered a sore-calf and the medic team advised the former Atletico Madrid player to rest. Simao was apparently getting the defenders of their opponents to work harder until that clash happened.
Meanwhile, Holicharan Narzary, who joined the North East United FC from Dempo Sc for the upcoming season of ISL, was diagnosed of appendicitis and had to go under the knife. He had joined the team in Durban, but in a bizarre turn of events, he flew back to India to get operated.
Narzary got operated on 5 September and the doctors said that he will take four to five weeks to recover. In that case, Narzary will not be missing much action of ISL 2015 apart from one or two initial matches.
North East United FC will begin their ISL 2015 campaign against Kerala Blasters on 6 October at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, followed by FC Pune City in their second game. Narzary is likely to miss out on both the games until he recovers completely and declared fit to play. Simao is almost fit and he will not be missing any action right from the start.
