Delhi Dynamos's French acquistion Florent Malouda was a crucial addition to this year's Indian Super League (ISL). And he might just turn out to be one of the best buys as well.
The former Chelsea custodian thought about ISL to be an exciting assignment and thus decided to come to India and play for Dynamos. Malouda also spoke to Mumbai City FC's marquee player-cum-manager and his fellow countryman Nicolas Anelka. Few more suggestions and inputs were added by Chennaiyin FC Bernard Mendy as well.
"Based on the feedback I got from Anelka and Mendy, they said the atmosphere was tremendous. Also I want to learn from the Indian culture. I choose to come here as this is an exciting project where I can use my experience and give something back. We have different choices to make towards the end of our careers. We want new challenges and want to try new things. ISL was certainly an option from last year but I chose to delay it by one year," Malouda told reporters on Saturday.
Malouda also added that Delhi marquee player cum manager Roberto Carlos was another reason for him to join the Delhi-based franchise. The former French international heaped praises on the Brazilian legendary left back who will be at the helm of Dynamos football affairs.
"The most important is when you come to a new league, you want to win it. I know that someone (Roberto Carlos) who has won many titles, and wants to make history in the ISL by winning it as a coach, is part of our team," Malouda added.
Delhi Dynamos will begin their ISL 2015 campaign when they will take on FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda Goa on 4 October.
