Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos took to one of the most unique ways to announce the signing of one more heavyweight overseas player this summer.
Former Chelsea hotshot winger Florent Malouda bolsters the attacking ranks of the Delhi side, ahead of ISL 2.0.
The announcement of the player signing for the franchisee side was not made through a mere statement or a tweet as most of the ISL sides have been doing this summer. Dynamos took it a step forward by announcing the signing of Malouda in front of thousands at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
Perimeter boards of Delhi Dynamos once again emerged in the Premier League game, where West Brom hosted Chelsea. The boards reading 'Delhi Dynamos welcome Florent Malouda to the family' and '#NamasteMalouda' showed up on various occasions of the game, where Chelsea defeated West Brom 3-2.
Malouda has been a top player in the Premier League with the Blues and every English league fan knows his capabilities. The 35-year-old Frenchman has won three FA Cup titles, a Premier League title and an UEFA Champions League during his tenure at the Stamford Bridge from 2007 through 2013.
He has even played in the finals of the FIFA World Cup for Les Blues against Italy in 2006, where France legend Zinedine Zidane was sent off for an infamous headbutt on present Chennaiyin FC player-manager Marco Materazzi.
Malouda, also a former Lyon hotshot, is now eager to work with Delhi player-manager Roberto Carlos.
"I am extremely excited for my new innings and to join forces with Roberto Carlos," Malouda stated in a press release.
"India has great football talent and a league like ISL will bring the certain amount of interest and will help develop Indian football. I look forward to give my best to the league and make the Delhi fans proud."
Brazil legend Carlos said that the Frenchman's world class experience will be the key to strengthening the team.
''Malouda is a classic player and brings with him years of world class experience. I am sure both the Indian and international players will learn a lot from him," the left-back said.
"His presence will not only strengthen the team but will also create high excitement levels among the ISL fans."
Malouda is known for his dribbling prowess and creativity and he notched up 45 goals and 44 assists during his Chelsea career, where he picked up 229 appearances in all competitions. He signed for Ligue 1 side FC Metz, only last September.
