Former Romania international Adrian Mutu is FC Pune City's marquee player for Indian Super League 2015.
The forward joins the side a day after Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora announced his joining the Pune-based ISL side.
In an illustrious club career that saw him plying trade with Chelsea, Juventus, and Fiorentina, 36-year-old Mutu, former winner of the Romanian league with Dinamo Bucharest, is set to bring his lethal attacking tooth to the side, something the former Pune marquee player David Trezeguet wasn't able to bring last year.
And the four-time Romanian footballer of the year knows exactly what to do.
"For me this kind of pressure is normal as it motivates me. Mine and Pune City's goal is to do the best than before and bring the trophy home," Mutu addressed a gala event in Pune, through Skype.
"I think what you're doing with Indian Super League is the best thing you could do to develop football in your country. It's a new experience to join Pune City and it's a privilege to be in your country," he added.
On Pune City manager David Platt, the Romanian said that it would be an honour for him to work with the English coach, who was an assistant to Roberto Mancini at Manchester City previously.
"David Platt is a very big name and it's an honour for me to be working under him."
The Pune side also announced that they will be touring abroad as part of their preseason. Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said, "Raising the bar this year, we're moving to Turkey for our pre-season camp."
The only side to do something similar this year has been Chennaiyin FC, which announced recently they will be having their preseason in Italy starting next month.
Mutu has played 77 matches for the Romanian national team since his debut in 2000 and has scored 35 goals, a joint record alongside Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi. Mutu has also been part of Romania's squads at Euro 2000 and Euro 2008.
A small controversy occured during his final playing days with the national side in 2013, prompting the player to hang his international boots that year.
Mutu was one of the key men for Fiorentina as he notched up a total of 69 goals and 26 assists from a total of 143 games.
He last featured for fellow Romanian outfit Petrolul Ploiești.
Bollywood superstar and Pune City co-owner Hrithik Roshan also welcomed Mutu's arrival.
