The preparations for the celebrations surrounding India's 63rd Republic Day commemoration are in full swing.

On this special day, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy, the Indian Army and other para-military forces will display the potency of the country's military strength.

As part of the festivities, the Air Force will put on an aerial acrobatics display, with three Sukhoi SU-30 fighter jets flying past in the formation of a trishul (a three-pronged spear). In addition, a total of 32 aircraft will maneuver into various formations, at heights ranging from 60 to 500 meters above Rajpath, said a statement released by the government.

The statement also said that in view of flight safety concerns, the Air Force had appealed to all citizens of Delhi to keep their neighborhoods clean and avoid throwing eatables, garbage or carcasses at waste dumps until Jan. 26; these would attract birds of prey and carrion-feeders, which could endanger the lives of pilots participating in the drills.

Meanwhile, apart from contingents from the Indian Army, Navy and the National Cade Corps (NCC), school children will also participate in the celebrations.

Furthermore, the Delhi police have put traffic restrictions into effect, at places like Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg for the Republic Day full dress rehearsal on Monday morning.
