America's first motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycle has launched FTR 1200 range in India. The FTR 1200 is a 'street tracker', a street-legal motorcycle with flat track bike styling. The motorcycle is inspired by the FTR 750 Scout race bike which dominated the American Flat Track championship in 2017 and 2018.
Indian Motorcycle offers the FTR 1200 range in the base FTR 1200 version and the FTR 1200 S along with its Race Replica variant. The base FTR 1200 has not been launched in India. The FTR 1200 S is priced at Rs 14.99 lakh and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica costs Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The FTR 1200 S' trellis frame, rear swing-arm design, and airbox located directly above the engine are inspired by the FTR750 race bike. Indian Motorcycle claims the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica features a sporty, upright riding position and nimble handling. Both the bike gets premium features including Bosch stability control with a six-axis inertial sensor and selectable three riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain), all controlled by a bright 4.3-inch color touchscreen dash. The FTR 1200 S models also get full LED lighting, fast-charge USB port, and lean-angle sensitive traction and stability control.
Both new Indian bikes are powered by a new liquid-cooled 1203cc V-Twin engine that develops 120hp of power and 115Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The FTR 1200 S bikes get fully adjustable front and rear piggy-back suspension with preload, compression, and rebound adjustments.
The FTR 1200 S and the Race Replica version are essentially the same while the latter gets a red trellis frame and a paint scheme matching to the iconic FTR 750 race bike. The FTR 1200 S, on the other hand, will be offered in two color schemes- Red over Steel Gray and Titanium Metallic over Thunder Black Pearl.
Indian Motorcycle has started accepting bookings for both the bikes at Rs 2 lakh and deliveries are scheduled from April 2019.
