The CBI has concluded that Indian men lust for violent porn, including that which shows violence against women, and has urged the Supreme Court to allow its officers to be stationed with Google and other Internet forums such as Facebook and Yahoo to check cybersex crimes.
In an affidavit to the apex court, the CBI has asked to be put in charge of investigating cybersex crimes and claimed that it had become difficult to stop violent porn as Indian men seemed to enjoy it, according to The Times of India.
The agency claimed that men in India had an "insatiable lust and penchant for salacious material, including violence against women".
The latest data from Google Trends has revealed that Indian cities dominate the top 10 global cities searching for porn online.
But the disturbing part is that keywords such as 'rape porn', 'child sex' and 'animal sex' are popular search terms in cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru and Pune, as per reports.
"Rape and gang rape represent the oldest and longest continuing instances of a criminal man's inhumanity on women. Committing such abhorrent crimes, recording them and disseminating them across the world through internet-enabled media serve to titillate and indirectly embolden other males to commit such heinous crimes. These not only add to the misery of existing victims but also endanger and threaten the safety of other innocent women and children," the CBI said in its affidavit.
The agency suggested that its cyber crime officers could work with the likes of Google, Facebook, Youtube and WhatsApp 'to facilitate and expedite the prevention, detection and prosecution of such crimes'.
New Delhi topped among Indian cities searching for porn on Google, followed by Pune, Mumbai, Unnao, and Bengaluru.
