New Delhi, July 3 (ANI): The economic affairs committee of the Indian cabinet decided to bring onions and potatoes under the essential commodities act in order to curb the prices of these two essential vegetables on the nation's menu. Law minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad held a cabinet briefing to explain the government's decision of including onions and potatoes under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, for one year. Prasad said that the decision will prevent hoarding as it will place an upper limit on holding stock by wholesale traders and others. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has made tackling inflation his top priority after widespread resentment about rising prices contributed to the exit of the previous government last month.
