An Indian docotor has written to UNAIDS and WHO claiming that he has developed a drug that has cured 86 people of HIV/AIDS.
Dhani Ram Baruah, a cardiac surgeon from Assam, has claimed to have found the cure in an edible medicinal plant found in the Himalayan region. The biological molecules isolated from the plant have the power to fight off the HIV virus, he claimed.
Baruah, who recently held a press conference in Guwahati, claimed that 86 of his patients, after receiving his treatment, tested negative for HIV/AIDS.
However, this is not the first time that the doctor from Assam has been in news. In 1997, he was imprisoned for 40 days after he transplanted a pig's heart in a 32-year-old male patient. The man lived for seven days, according to The Indian Express.
The doctor has written to WHO, UNAIDS and National Institute of Health (US), asking them to authenticate his study after conducting tests.
Doctor Baruah told journalists during a press conference that the isolated genes from the plant work as biological missiles capable of killing HIV and improve the immune system of patients.
