The Indian Army on Tuesday said that it was ready to deal with any kind of misadventure from across the Line of Control by Pakistani troops or terrorists. The statement from the Army has come in the wake of the surgical strikes conducted by it on terror spots across LoC.
The surgical strikes on the terrorists spots were conducted soon after some terrorists barged into an Indian Army base camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir and opened fire on the soldiers. The assault led to loss of lives of at least 19 Indian soldiers.
"Along the LoC, our preparedness is of the highest degree. The Indian Army is ready to deal with any misadventure from across the LoC, whether it is by regulars or otherwise," General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 corps Lt Gen Satish Dua was quoted as saying by PTI.
General Dua said that there has been an increase in infiltration attempts from across the LoC, however, the Army has foiled most of the attempts. There have been reports of frequent Army encounters near the Loc with terrorists from across the border. "I do admit that some infiltration has taken place, but the encounters along the LoC and the number of militants eliminated shows the preparedness of the army," he said.
Commenting about the situation in Kashmir and the trust deficit between the army and Kashmiri Youth, General Dua said that although some Kashmiri youth were misguided, the majority of the Kashmiri residents were with the army.
"Recently, one of our vehicles met with an accident and our jawans were trapped inside the vehicle. It was the local Kashmiri youths who pulled out the jawans. We have conducted some anti-militancy operations recently and the youths have not indulged in stone-pelting after the purpose of the operation was explained to them," Gen Dua added.
