The much-anticipated Nokia X aka Normandy Android smartphone is set to become reality soon, says a new report.
BGR India, citing local app developers, claims the Finnish company has started seeding the rumoured Nokia X, running Asha on Linux (aka AoL), an ASOP (Android Open Source Project) OS version to create a stock of applications ready, ahead of its launch.
"The only thing developers have to ensure is there are no Google services callouts in the app. If the app does not call out any Google API, one can even sideload the same app APK that is available on the Play store," said a prominent developer to the website.
The website says that Nokia, in fact, has already succeeded in roping in most of the acclaimed app developers, featuring in 'Top 100' list in the App Store and Google Play to boost the AoL ecosystem.
Nokia is also contemplating going for marketing blitzkriegs during the upcoming IPL (Indian Premiere League) 7 cricket tournament to rake in publicity for the new Nokia X in the sub-continent, and the company is likely to set the phone's price around ₹6,500, reported BGR India.
The reported price tag of Nokia X is very close to the price details leaked by Vietnamese online seller Mai Nguyen, which stated the alleged Nokia's Android handset would cost between 2.2 million to 2.5 million VND (Vietnamese Dong), approximately ₹6,500-to- ₹7,380 (or $100).
Nokia X A110 (aka Normandy) is expected to flaunt a 4.0-inch WVGA (480x800p) TFT screen, having pixel density 285 ppi (pixels per inch). Under the hood, it is said to house 1GHz Snapdragon 200 series dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB) and a 5.0-megapixel main camera.
Word on the street is that the Finnish company would pull the wraps off the Nokia X at the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014. The company has even sent out invitations titled 'Meet Us Under The Tree' to select media outlets to attend the conference in the Barcelona event on 24 February.
