Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a joint statement with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday in Delhi. The leaders talked about bilateral, regional and international relations between the countries, including the Middle East peace process.
PM Modi in his statement said that India continues to support development and capacity building efforts of Palestine. He also added that India wants to see Palestine peacefully co-existing with Israel.
"We hope to see the realization of a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine, co-existing peacefully with Israel," Modi in his statement said.
President Abbas in his statement said that Palestine condemned terrorism "in all its forms and manifestations."
"Two weeks back I met Donald Trump, where we agreed for constructive support on historic peace treaty to end conflict with Israel," Abbas said.
"I also Informed PM Modi about discussions with Russian Pres who is showing interest in support for peace efforts in our region," President Abbas added.
The Palestinian president arrived in India on Sunday on a four-day visit. His visit comes ahead of Modi's visit to Israel which is likely to take place in July.
