Report: Sri Lanka pace bowler Suranga Lakmal helped them steamroll India by seven wickets in the first one-day international in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 10.

India were reeling at 29-7 in the 17th over before Mahendra Singh Dhoni struck a belligerent 65, with the former captain contributing more than half of the team total.
Sri Lanka's top order were not completely convincing against the moving ball but Upul Tharanga's breezy 49 helped them chase down the small target with nearly 30 overs to spare and go 1-0 up in the three-match series.
Smarting from their 1-0 loss in the preceding test series, Sri Lanka opted to field against an Indian team led by Rohit Sharma in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli who has been rested ahead of the team's imminent tour of South Africa. (Inputs from Reuters)

Sri Lanka will be extremely happy with their bowling effort. On bowler-friendly conditions Suranga Lakmal (four for 13) and Angelo Mathews (one for 8) gave the visitors the best possible start, helping reduce the hosts to 27/7 at one stage.
However, Dhoni and Kuldeep rescued India with a 41 run-stand for the eighth wicket. Dhoni hit a few big ones in the end, but India's total might not be enough to stop a Sri Lankan win in the first ODI of the three-match series.
2:15pm IST: Dhoni is switching gears. He has scored 15 runs off 29 balls since Kuldeep's dismissal. The former captain, as usual, is farming the strike as well.

New captain Rohit Sharma has lost the toss and Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera has put India into bat. Perera feels that the track looks good for batting and wants to chase, but that should be not be concern as the India skipper wanted to bat first as well.
"I would have batted anyways. Sun is shinning. It looks a good pitch. Good toss to lose," said Rohit at the toss.
There is a bit of grass in the playing surface, but cricket expert Sunil Gavaskar feels that it could help the batsmen, where they can play their shots.
