The upcoming India vs South Africa series has been highly anticipated with two of the best teams in world cricket squaring off against one another for two months of non-stop cricket action in October and November. India host South Africa for 3 T20s, 5 ODIs and 4 Test matches scattered across the length and breadth of the country.
Cricket fans in India, who love the gentlemen's game, have not seen their home team in action since November 2014, when the men in blue hosted Sri Lanka. But their wait is going to be over with a huge series against the Proteas and the BCCI have some major plans for the series as they are set for a big launch on 21 September in Bangalore.
"We have some big plans for the upcoming series. Both the countries share common struggle, common history. We are planning a big launch of the series on 21st September in Bangalore (Bengaluru). We will make some major announcements their and launch a few initiatives related to the series," Anurag Thukar told The Times of India in an exclusive interview.
The series is expected to be a close one with both the teams having some big guns in their line up. Players such as Dale Steyn, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni are going to be crucial members for their respective teams.
Though the South African team for the tour have been announced, India's team for the series is expected to be announced on Sunday.
The BCCI have their hands full and some busy months lie ahead for the cricket body. Not only do they have the big South Africa series on their minds, but also the 2016 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in India.
The venues have already been announced for the event. Their preparations are in full swing for the T20 tournament as they will be eager to make it a grand success. The schedule will be announced shortly for the mega event.
"Preparations are in full swing. Venues have been discussed and announced. All the ground work related to the event has started. Very soon we will release the schedule of the event," said Anurag Thakur.
