The cricket tournament featuring women's cricketers from Asia has taken place a total of five times so far and India Women have won every edition. While until 2008, the tournament was a 50-over one, since 2012, it's been a twenty20 tournament.
One of the most stellar figures in the India women's cricket team lineup remains Mithali Raj, who remained impressive for her team against Sri Lanka women's cricket team in the tournament. The 34-year-old smashed a half century in the match, while spinners Ekta Bisht and Preeti Bose have continuously shone for India in the Women's Asia Cup cricket 2016.
"We've been very dominant in the Asian regions and it is very important we win all games. We have the team to do very well. We have some good youngsters, so this outing will give them a lot of boost," mentioned Mithali ahead of the Women's Asia Cup 2016 final.
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW AHEAD OF THE MATCH...
Talking about the promotion of Women's cricket in general, here's what Mithali said. "I would want a better promotion of Asia Cup and women's cricket. We had a very important home series against T20 champions West Indies Women, where a lot of crowd turned up for those matches.
"When we tour abroad, we only bank on the social media -- like instagram and twitter -- where the girls themselves post the updates of matches, but it's very important if the matches are televised."
Good news remains that the all-important match on Sunday gets televised!
