Like other filmmakers, Akshay Kumar too has decided to promote his film in a unique way. The actor, who is in New York, will promote his upcoming film, "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again" during the India-vs-Pakistan match.
The much-anticipated match between the arch-rivals - India and Pakistan - will be played on 15 June at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Saturday.
Akshay, who is currently in New York on a family trip, is a cricket lover and will reportedly travel to Birmingham, UK, to watch the match.
Apparently, Akshay in the upcoming action thriller is playing the character of Shoaib, an underworld don who can influence cricket matches. There is another scene in the film which has Akshay watching cricket match between India and Pakistan.
Tanuj Garg, the CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, also confirmed that Shoaib would be attending the Indo-Pak match.
"As a company known for pushing the envelope on marketing, we will have our Shoaib attending the India-Pakistan match at Edgbaston. Cricket is a perfect fit with his character in the film, as seen in the first trailer," Garg said in a statement.
The promotional strategy was not pre-planned and Akshay has taken a day out from his family trip to attend the match.
"Akshay is a cricket lover, and he has been a thorough professional to take a day out from his family trip to promote the film. It was not pre-planned; this appearance was decided at the last moment," a source close to the actor told Hindustan Times.
The action and crime drama is directed by Milan Luthria and also features Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre in important roles.
