A shocking show against Malaysia in their final league match of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2017 hockey tournament on Friday, May 5, resulted in India losing out a place in the final. Australia and Great Britain now face off in the final at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, on Saturday, May 6.
Prior to that match, the Indian hockey team will have to battle it out with New Zealand for a 3/4th place in the tournament.
Nothing but pride is at stake for Roelant Oltmans' army. Can Mandeep Singh and Co. finally step up now and overturn their forgetful result on Friday?
The Indian hockey team, who remained one of the favourites to lift the trophy in this edition of the tournament, against Malaysia, could not capitalise a single penalty corner. Sardar Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh and SV Sunil came close to scoring for India, but the hosts' defenders were a bit too much in form on the match day.
