In the age of overpowering social media narrative, it does not take long for a trend to catch hold of imaginations and spread all over the place as a viral 'trend'.

When Dele Alli, Tottenham Hotspur and England footballer rolled his fingers and offered a rather strange looking salute following his goal against Newcastle United, it did not appear it would assume as the newest challenge doing the rounds, and yet it did.

Rahul takes note

On the fourth day of the ongoing Test match, Indian batsman KL Rahul snaffled the catch of English captain Joe Root at second slip, turned back to sprint away and broke into the#DeleAlli challenge. There was a smirk and celebration and Twitter sat up and took note.

India has been dominating England in the fourth Test and there is palpable mirth doing the rounds within the team. Chasing a target of 521, the hosts were in all sorts of bother as they lost four wickets before lunch and looked like folding much like the first innings.

However, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes have stitched together a partnership which is now worth more than 100 runs and this added a sense of stability to the innings.

Coming back to the challenge, there have been other attempts made too, few have ended in jeopardy, few have come close to Alli. Well, Twitter never disappoints, does it?
