India will finally tour South Africa from 5 December after the originally planned schedule was scrubbed due to issues between Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The cricket bodies from the countries recently announced the decision to play a series consisting of two Tests and three one-day internationals (ODI), ending months of speculations that the planned series would be shelved. The series announced by CSA in July consisted of three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20s but it has been reduced to just two Tests and three ODIs.
The scheduled bilateral series will start on 5 December with ODI matches at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, Kingsmead, Durban and SuperSport Park, Centurion, before playing two Tests. The series will come to an end on 30 December.
South Africa will enter the series after ending the ongoing home series against Pakistan, consisting of two T20 and three ODI matches. In their recently concluded tour of UAE, they defeated Pakistan in ODI and T20 after the two-match Test series was levelled.
India are currently in the middle of a series against West Indies. They won the first ODI after winning the two-match Test series, which was dubbed as 'Sachin Tendulkar's series' by the media, as it marked Indian batting maestro's final cricket match before hanging his boots. MS Dhoni's boys had earlier defeated Australia in a thrilling ODI series.
