About 20 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists have entered India from Pakistan to carry out terror attacks on New Year's eve, intelligence agencies have reportedly said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Parliament building in Delhi are on the terror group'd radar, according to the alerts.
The LeT terrorists may also target nuclear facilities in the country as well as the Army headquarters in the capital, the report by intelligence agencies warned, according to India Today.
Earlier this month, the Delhi Police had filed an FIR stating that Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives were planning terror attacks on the capital and other cities in India. The group had reportedly planned to carry out 26/11-like attacks, including a plot to carry out a mass shooting or a suicide bombing at a political gathering where Modi would be present, The Times of India had reported.
On Tuesday, the Centre had asked all states to be on the vigil for terror threats to popular locations during New Year's eve.
Security forces conducted mock drills in Delhi on Tuesday night to prepare for threats on New Year's eve.
NSG and SWAT commandos carried out the mock drills at popular malls and shopping complexes in the capital along with the Delhi police.
Last month, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad were on high alert after intelligence agencies had warned of terror threats from the al Qaeda.
