After the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) decided to invite applications for the coaching role, day by day, things are emerging out in the open, throwing Anil Kumble in a bad light.
The players were reportedly not too happy with Kumble's approach. Now, it is alleged that the former leg-spinner has a WhatsApp group, which comprises of some select media people and Kumble leaks some confidential team talks in the group.
"We've been told that there is a WhatsApp group created by Kumble of his few trusted media friends and few confidential talks between him and senior players were leaked through that," DNA quoted a BCCI official as saying.
The situation is increasingly looking murky for Kumble and his coaching future with the Indian team.
The BCCI are also not too happy with him as he urged the board to allow India play in the Champions Trophy when they were involved in loggerheads with the ICC. He also wants the BCCI to increase the salaries of the players and also their coaching staff, which also includes Kumble. Such kind of behaviour might have led to BCCI open invitations for other coaches.
What next now?
The BCCI, after coming to know about a lot of negative things about Kumble, might not be interested in taking him as the coach once again. Kumble is a direct entrant to the coach's selection process, which will be looked after by the advisory committee, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VV Laxman.
All those interested to become the next India coach are to send in their applications by today, 31 May.
One does not know much as to who all have applied, but considering that it is one of the prestigious jobs in world cricket, there might be some foreign names along with former Indian stars.
